It’s been an exciting if extremely busy month for Sara and I, and I’m thrilled to share the news that we each just sold book projects.
No surprise, both books are food-related: Sara, along with the fabulous food writer Jean Tang, is writing a cookbook filled with sandwich recipes from New York’s top chefs, and it’s already getting buzz. Although my book is fictional, the protagonist is a nutrition and diet editor at a glossy health magazine. (You can bet I had fun with that one).
Now for the bad news: neither book is out until 2011, which feels like 211 years from now. But to whet your appetite, here are the summaries from Publishers Marketplace:
“Sara Reistad-Long and Jean Tang’s THE BIG NEW YORK SANDWICH BOOK: Chef-Made Fixes for a New Between-the-Bread Age, a compendium of gorgeous, simple sandwich recipes ranging from overstuffed deli sandwiches and paninis to Vietnamese bahn mi, from a who’s-who of talented chefs and beloved restaurants in New York, to Geoffrey Stone at Running Press, for publication in Spring 2011, by Joelle Delbourgo at Joelle Delbourgo Associates (World)”
“Camille Noe Pagan’s THE ART OF FORGETTING, a story of an unconfident editor and her beautiful best friend whose relationship is tested when a freak accident alters one woman’s memory and begins dredging up old issues — including a decade-old love triangle between them– causing the other to re-examine their shared past and negotiate the delicate balance between forgiving and forgetting, to Denise Roy at Dutton, at auction, by Elisabeth Weed atWeed Literary (World English). Italian rights to Sperling & Kupfer, in a pre-empt, by Jenny Meyer on behalf of Weed Literary.”

Congratulations to you both! I know it’s tough to get books published these days, so touche ladies! I can’t wait to read both.
