Normally at Svelte Gourmand, we try to stick to the food and nutrition side of things, but a new fitness review I did over at AOL was too occasion-appropriate not to pass along. New York Sports Club has come up with a set of exercises designed to work off Thanksgiving calories, food item by food item. For instance, a set of “Jiggle Buster Jumps” is supposed to work off two 100-calorie slices of turkey. Three sets of “Second Serving Squats”pair with a 350-calorie slice of pie. And so on. Because we’re all dealing with different metabolisms, the apple-for-apple (or, in this case, “Football Runs” for a 95-calorie glass of wine) component of this program is a little optimistic. But if you can get over the names and suspend some disbelief, I found much of the workout motivating. Useful, too, if you’re traveling and want to feel like you’re taking a stab at this exercise business. Click through this link for the full rundown. And on that note–from both Camille and me–we’re wishing you an incredible and delicious Thanksgiving; this blog is definitely something we’re grateful for. We’ll be back in force on Monday.
